The white horse

“And I saw when the lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living beings say with a voice like thunder, ‘Come!’ And I watched, and behold, there was a white horse, and its rider was armed with a bow, and a victory wreath was given to him; he went out to get victory, and he got it.”
The Apocalypse 6.1-2

Down through the centuries, black and white have usually represented evil and good. When the prophetic picture of a white horse is given, the instinctive conclusion would be that something very good and right has come. However, this horse comes forth as one of the dimensions of judgment predicted over the world.

The apostle Paul foresaw that deception was going to be one of the waves of judgment that God was going to release into the world. “…God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Could it be that the “white” horse is Revelation’s way of making the same prophecy – that of global deception?

Whole new definitions of right and wrong are introduced into the earth and compete for acceptance. Earth’s inhabitants embrace this influence and are convinced by it. Though the process began centuries ago, the biggest changes have now occurred over the space of one single lifetime. Is it really such a good thing? Are right and wrong really to be established by mere popular opinion?

Jim’s talk entitled, “Big Change Coming,” explores this and other prophecies that tell us what the world will look just before the return of Jesus. It is the talk that Jim gives at primary Patmos Project events, and as soon as possible will be posted here on the website.
